Rock the Center Scheduled for Saturday, August 6
SIOUX CITY, IA: In 1991, Sioux City’s two hospitals identified a need for another health care option in the community. As a result of their foresight, the Siouxland Community Health Center (SCHC) was formed and saw its first patient in 1992. From humble beginnings, SCHC has grown into a full scale health center featuring medical, dental, urgent care, prenatal care, behavioral health services and a full-service pharmacy. This year, SCHC is on pace to serve nearly 27,000 patients.
In recognition of both its silver anniversary and as a kick-off to National Community Health Center Week, SCHC will be hosting a community celebration called “Rock the Center” on Saturday, August 6 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the SCHC parking lot at 1021 Nebraska Street.
A number of Siouxland non-profit organizations will have displays set-up in the SCHC parking lot for Rock the Center and games and free food will be available for all. In addition, the Siouxland Community Health Center will have a “free rummage sale” of clothes for infants, children and adults. The gently used clothes will be given free of charge to those who demonstrate a need. Siouxland Fire and Rescue will be doing child car seat safety checks in the Siouxland District Health parking lot adjacent to the Health Center along Nebraska Street.
Rock the Center is a way to say thank-you to the community for twenty-five years that have been highlighted by steady growth and a corresponding expansion of services. The event is free and open to the public.
